Cactus V6 transceiver firmware update necessary?

I always use the transceiver in manual mode. I never try to "match" it to a flash. Is the firmware update necessary in that case? Sometimes it just doesn't trigger my flash so I am trouble shooting. I've done factory updates and often just use a different channel...like going to a to b to c to d until I can get it to trigger the flash. But it seems this shouldn't be necessary. I also will check to see if I had it in long or short distance mode. But I wondering about that firmware update. Thank you!

it is good practice to go for it.
