Here is myt try at a B&W Lily.

The original was colour but I liked it in black & white better.

Hmmm... Not bad; I think the lighting needs a touch of adjustment (blown highlight image left) and the bit of stem(?) diagonally across the lower LH corner should be cloned out. I'm not sure if greater DoF (so that the back was sharply focused) would help or not.

I don't think the flower is blown out on the left. On my monitor I can still see the detail a bit, mind you my set up is not calibrated. I also checked the histogram, and it is not showing any clipping of the highlights.

Good idea on cloning out the leaf at bottom left. I don't know if my skills are up to the task, but I'll give it a try in the next few days.

On my mbp's monitor, if I'm looking square on to the photo, the left of the image looks like it might have blown highlights. Then I leaned back, watching the gymnastics, looked over at the screen, and there was quite a bit of detail on the left. So if I was below my normal level, there was more detail.

By the way, I like the ethereal feel to the image.
