What do you mean by "external exposure triad" ?

I believe what Keith means is the ability to change the exposure triad (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) without having to menu dive. The upper tier Nikons have these features as wheels on the body.

Yep. That's what I mean. No need to go menu diving.
