Camera Read time

Hey guys I was just wondering if the amount of pictures stored on a Compact Flash card would affect how long it takes to switch to the "playback" mode to review photos.

I'm thinking that it does, but I'm not sure. Can someone please confirm? (I use a Canon 10d with Sandisk Ultra 8 gb, 30mb/s)
