Camera recommendations with a $1,000 limit.

Looking for a camera that takes better quality pictures than my cell phone. Time to get a real grown up camera I do mostly indoor photos of of birth and babies. I do outdoor photos of family and wildlife. I want a camera I won't quickly outgrow, but something that isn't going to be so complicated that I regret buying it.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you wanting a dslr or is something better than a point & shoot what you have in mind? Indoor photography is about lighting. You can shoot with anything if you get enough light in there.

Are you willing to consider used equipment? If so, that expands the possibilities a fair amount.

Well for image quality and lowlight in your budget range I would probably look at a nikon d5200 and a 50mm 1.8 af-s g lens.

As always I agree with R.P

Nikon D5200 is a fantastic camera.
As for lenses well the 50mm 1.8G is a super sharp lens but if you want a zoom lens for more general use I would recommend maybe the 18-105mm VR, it will give you much more flexibility but will not be so good at the 50mm 1.8G in low light and will be slightly softer even though it is still capable producing fantastic quality pictures.
The Nikon 70-300mm VR is good for outside telezoom, reasonably priced and gives good quality for the money.
