camera shake

I'm not having an issue with work actually, it's more with this macro lens, I cannot get a clear shot....trying all of these techniques, shooting at iso 100-400, F11, 13, but it hasn't been enough light. I guess that's my fault for trying to shoot at 4pm, huh? Finally I just opened to 2.8 and that was just a blurry mess.

macro work really needs good lighting = and most often a good flash to get the desired results. Your apertures look about right so work on using flash

I use a monopod. It's collapsable, small and easily adjustable. Works great when a tripod just doesn't make sence.

For true macro work you really should use a tripod. You'll need to stop your aperture right down in order to get a reasonable depth of field at such close distances. If you use available light long exposures-which will guarantee shake-are the norm.

Had I known we wehre talking about Macro my responce would have been way different. There is no other option but a tripod, Mirror lock and delayed shutter release. Shoot with a tight aprature and long shutter speed with the mirror locked on a delayed shutter release.

Granted I use a very different Macro setup than almost everyone here but these are things that apply equally to shooting Macro under available lighting.

These are a few Macros I have done using this methoed under little more than a lamp and/or overhead flouresent light.
