Cameras, Batteries and high ambient temperatures

I googled and forum searched with no results. How does high ambient temperatures like those in a vehicle on hot summer days affect my camera, especially the battery? Does it?

Heat kills batteries.

Cold kills batteries, too.

Temperature extremes will most likely shorten the life of batteries.

So I suspected. Thanks. But what kind of high temps are we talking about? 90?100? more?

Extreme cold weather shooting or left in a vehicle like below freezing will shorten charge times but the biggest concern I would have is heat.So I would guess anything above 90 into the hundred range that can easily be reached in a vehicle could be very bad for a battery.I would not leave it in the camera under extreme heat.The Camera may survive but if the battery exploded in camera wouldn't be good.
