Cameras?

Hey guys, I really want a good camera which takes very good images but also very good video!

I have been looking at Canon 500d and Nikon D3200!

As I have no clue about this I don't know if these are even good cameras and weather they are worth me buying, I don't have much money so in this price range would be the best for me but I do want the best value for my money!

Once again I have no clue so if you guys know a camera which is perfect for what I want then please could you tell me.

It's the nut behind the wheel that's responsible for making very good images.

DSLRs in AUTO mode are just stupid machines that follow a program a committee of camera software engineers wrote.
So if you leave all or most of it up to the camera, expect mediocrity with the occasional accidental winner.

Consequently, ANY brand or model of entry-level DSLR made today will suit your needs pretty much with equal aplomb.

Heads for the Canon, tails for the Nikon. You cannot make a wrong decision.

I think Nikon offers a better product, and has the customer more at heart than Canon does.

I recently went through this and I chose Nikon. I want to eventually step up to the D600 and wanted all my glass to be compatible. I think that Nikon anc Canon are both great cameras and both great companies. I personally have no plans to shoot video with my dslr, so it was easier for me to choose Nikon. The Canons better video capabilities than the Nikon cameras. But I have a Canon Camcorder for video.

If you don't have to buy new, look at used medium level cameras from Canon and Nikon. You can find ones that have video capability but with greater control and features than the entry level cameras for as much is not less than a new entry level and boy do they depreciate. A Canon t1i that does video was selling for about $300 on POTN.
