Can anyone help me with...

You can google "royalty free music" or "royalty free stock music".

Those are the music you can buy and use them in your video. Just like you can buy stock photos and use it to design a websites, banners or printed commercial materials.

Example :Royalty Free Award Winning Music - License
Be sure you read any use license closely.

One of the reasons so much royalty free music/photos is so inexpensive, is the license does not allow commercial, use.

FYI this is just something I'm putting together for the parents. I'm not charging, these aren't even good photos for the most part, lol. It's just snapshots of the team throughout the season.

OMG! Pro Show Producer is awesome. I'm gonna have to purchase this. I'm scared to look at the price.

EDIT: Ouch. $250. A lil high for this SAHM

As far as using music, good ideas were already mentioned for seeking royalty free music.

You can also try looking at the music/record label for the artists. I found a site for Christian Artists (EMI CMG Licensing) that allows you to purchase the rights for video and DVD creation use. It's typically a license for one specific project (you can's use it on future projects). There is a small fee per DVD, and a minium order of $20.00 total.

Maybe other recording companies have similar sites, not sure, I have not looked into it. One thing I ran into , is some songs are only partially owned by the site I referenced above, so in some cases additinoal parties may need to be contacted to gain permissions.

As far as sfotware... I love photodex products for DVD and video creation. Gold is fantastic, and the studio version is even better. But they are not exactly "cheap" if you are only making use of the software once in a great while. Photodex - ProShow - Slideshow Creation in HD

A slide show isn't a video.

All the slide shows I make with Movie Maker, play full screen.

To use music on a slide show, you need a use license, just like the copyright to your photographs requires someone else obtain a use license from you, to use any of them.

You can make photo slideshow in a video format that plays on the puter or DVD player (with awesome transition between photos).

When I use the Save As option it only gives me the option to save as a WMM or whatever. Windows Movie Maker file.

Do you know how to change that to something that can be viewed (adequately) on a TV via DVD?

Yeah, this is probably one of two times I will use the software over the next few years! I was really hoping for freeware. (Especially since this is something I'm doing for free for the parents and it's the only time I see using it for the next LONG time.)

ty image, but I've dl'd that and unfortunately the trial only lets you use 36 photos and I have about 100-120. :(

This may just be something I can't do w/o purchasing, I guess.

I thought I could do this with Windows Movie Maker, though. I just can't figure out the settings or something.

I know YouTube will allow you to use any music you want copyright or not as long as either in the video or in the description you put who own the rights and state that you do not claim or own the music. You can look it up on their website for exactly what you have to put on there, but if you don't do that they will mute the whole video.

With Windows Movie Maker, have you chosen the "Publish Movie" option under the "file" menu? usually that will give you a whole bunch of quality and size options and file types to choose from. If you jsut save you only have the option of a movie maker file, if you publish there are other options.

I only have save movie options, no publish options.

Okay, not what I was planning on hearing. Are you confused as to what the resolution of your pictures really is? If you really did shoot somewhere in the 300xsomething-range, it's really obvious that it'd be insanely blurry stretched out for full screen. I'd like to believe that this was a simple misunderstanding. I was looking for something along the "I shot at 3896x2538" kind of answer..

Sorry. I just opened one. It's 3798x2532. Most are about that size.
