What's new

Can someone answer a quick question...

He is shooting at 300mm.
I would suggest shooting the moon when it is not full or almost full. You will get the most detail if the craters are side-lit which will show more texture.

Here is one of my earlier shots with my Nikkor 55-300mm.

Oh good catch, I read 200 in the OP and got mixed up. OP, crop it to 100%. 300mm will always be better than 200mm.

That is the best you are going to get @ 200mm.

I pretty much get the same results

In size yes, but you still have something to go on when it comes to sharpness compared to the shot from OP!

I don't understand what you are saying. Im assuming you mean that my picture isn't as sharp. Yes, that's for 2 reasons. 1 - It's @ 200mm. 2 - I didn't really sharpen it in PS.

@200mm you do not have enough reach. I can over sharpen it, but it would look over processed.

diopter adjusted properly?

I actually just discovered this little dial tonight...I'm not sure if it was adjusted properly. Could that have caused my issues with Manual focus?

Yes, especially manually focusing, I've done it. In auto focus you tend to think the lens went bad.

my turn @ 200mm cropped.
