Can someone please simply explain to me why my iPhone pics are a million times better

I didn't read all of that text either, but here is the wisest piece of advice I can glean from what I did read. How about instead of coming on the forum to whine and complain about how someone sold you a crappy camera, you come on here BEFORE buying said crappy camera and ask for advice on whether or not you should get it. People like you are exactly why they make sh!tty budget cameras ( or guitars, or drums, or paint brushes etc etc ).

Everyone thinks they can just grab any cheap piece of crap and make art. By the time you realize you bought junk ( or just assume you suck and give up on your aspirations ) the company that made that junk has already spent your money and began making the next piece of sh!t to sell to the next unsuspecting person that didn't do their homework.

He didn't buy the crappy camera. His uncle bought it for him to practice and was expecting professional photos with it.

I wonder why a professional photographer would want you to practice with a fujifilm camera, then be upset when it doesn't come out good. Fujifilm is the lowest quality for everything .. photo prints, film, and cameras. I'm sorry buddy, but don't let it bother you. you really can't make magic with crap like that.

P&S cameras ... maybe they're not the best (but certainly not the worst). Prints, I haven't had issues... Film ... Fuji makes some of the best film money can buy.

Short answer: The iPhone camera and the software inside was designed to let any random person get properly exposed images without any work.

It's not that the Fuji camera sucks, it's that your iPhone is doing the work for you (and won't let you break out of it's "Hold My Hand" phase), and the Fuji isn't. It's like complaining that a go-cart is faster than a Ferrari, and it's only because you can't get the Ferrari in gear.
