can we talk about reverse lens macro?

Preface : Taking into consideration that I am composing this on a cell phone, please disregard any and all inevitable typos, auto corrects, blatent spelling errors, made up words, etc.

I've had macro on the mind lately, and a macro lens is far on the back burner. So, I am looking into the ever affordable world of reverse lens macro.

My biggest concern is damaging my lens. Say I want to do some more water drop shots- what if *gasp* a water drop splashed onto the little metal connector things? Is this a disaster? I would be devistated to damage a perfectly wonderful 50km for want of a few closeups.

Are there any other things I need to consider before going the cheep route?

A little water splashing on? No big deal if 1. it's not much and 2. you dry the lens off with a soft cloth immediately. Carry a microfiber cleaning cloth with you for just such a contingency.

Like all things, just be careful and be aware.


I would, however, like to see a 50km lens. It must be the size of a Boeing 767.

You do realize the Df has the flip-up Ai coupling tab on the body, and can take basically almost any Nikon F-mount lens, right? So, say a $29 55mm f/3.5 pre-Ai Nikkor from KEH.com is good to go on the Df...

Yes, I did realize this. I just hadn't considered buying another 50! I had been browsing 100mm macros. Brilliant idea!
