A couple of shots from tonight's candle-light vigil at the local Cenotaph; an event conducted by local Cadets, Guides, Scouts and Brownies as part of Remembrance Day ceremonies.

That first one in particular is really wonderfully done John, that captures the feeling of this so well. Very nice.

On Hockey Night in Canada I saw the open for three different games, then the feature on Coach's Corner from a cemetery in France? (I think?) where Canadian soldiers were buried. Seems like even though the holiday might be on a different day we share similar commemorations.

Remembrance Day is observed by many countries as I see. Yes, #1 is special.

Like one a lot. Sets a somber mood. great job. Ed

Thanks [The other] Sharon! Our Remembrance Day is the same as your Veteran's Day (Nov 11, based on the WW I armistice), this was sort of a "Christmas Eve Mass" type event.

Thanks Rick!
Nice, #2 good.
Thankss!

Thanks Ed!
You really captured the mood in number one. Beautifully done!
Thank-you! :)

On a more sombre note, because of the events in Ottawa, Richelieu and Manchester, all the Cadet corps in our region were instructed that until further notice at no time were Cadets to be in public in uniform without a squadron staff member present. This impacted the yearly poppy sales by cadets and also the various school remembrance day ceremonies. Sad when fanatics attack youths doing community service and outreach.
