Thinking of getting 1.4x teleconvertor for use with canon 100-400 l and 700d then maybe on a 7d
There is a lot of information out there sometimes very conflicting
I have read that some camera modes and features become unavailable on certain cameras
And stories of people tapeing up pins
Thanks for any help

Check the compatibility for Canon Teleconverters, I'm thinking that the 100-400mm L is not on the list.

The main reason for that, is that the lens has a maximum aperture of F5.6 (at the long end)....and when you add a teleconverter, you reduce the effective maximum aperture. So that lens, with a 1.4TC would have a maximum aperture around F8. Most cameras require at least F5.6 in order for the AF system to work properly.
So using a TC with that lens, may disable your AF. That may not be a deal breaker if you can manual focus though.
