Well things went really well. The field is super dark but was able to shoot at higher shutter speed and lower ISO. The shots I got before the sun went down are amazing.

Well my issue would be if I am going to spend the money for a mkii then why not get the 500 f/4?

You do know if you look hard enough you can get a 500 F4 for around 4K? Mine was 4200 with the 1.4x and lenscoat... Just saying

They look good to me. So yes, I guess one can shoot that lens handheld.

Umm, you do realize I only shoot handheld with my 500 F4?
