Canon 5D mark III will be announced on February 28

They are updating 35L? wth? Update of 24-70 better have IS on it or they are wasting their time!

Someone wanna enlighten me on WHY everyone is wanting IS/OS/VR on a lens of this focal length? It doesn't make sense to me. You have to be above a shutter speed of 1/70 at the full zoom in order to be out of the camera shake danger zone... I am RARELY (if EVER) shooting hand held below 1/80 anyway... so? What am I missing here? It's not going to help in any type of portraiture. Only still life. If you photograph a living person, landscape with breezes... with a shutter that low the IS isn't going to do anything to prevent the motion blur, so it's kind of redundant and just a money pit IMO.

The D800 is supposed to be $3k, with the AA filter-less one at $3300.

Traitor. :er:

All of the rumors point to a $4k price tag for the D800. Hopefully you are right though.

There's plenty of links there that will tell you all about it.

But, basically, it's a filter infront of the sensor that will intentionally take out ome detail so you don't get any aliasing or moiré. But, you do lose some detail.
