According to Dave Pardue, the predecessor Canon EOS M50 has been the most popular APS-C camera on "Imaging Resource" for the past two years. I didn't know that. I remember as recent as around 2017, reading comments on how the Canon M series had been a flop in North America despite it being a success in the orient. It doesn't sound like a "flop" to me now.

Anyway, here is version II:

"The Canon EOS M5 Mark II will be available near Thanksgiving of 2020 for a suggested US $600 for the body-only configuration, or US $700 when kitted with the EF-M 14-45mm lens. You can also opt for a 2-lens kit by adding the EF-M 55-200mm for US $930."

Yup.
Not everyone wants a FF camera.
APS-C is just fine for many people.

I prefer the APS-C format for wildlife photography, especially birding as well as sports photography. I like the pixel density and zoom factor compared to FF camera bodies.
