Was messing around with this camera in a store yesterday. It'd be my first ever camera so I'm not looking to go crazy with a DSLR just yet. Wondering what ya'll think of it for a PS/Bridge camera?

It's a nice camera. Decent small size too. Bridge cameras are big and won't fit in your pocket... that will.

It's a bit pricey though - spending $300 on a point and shoot isn't something I'd recommend but it's a nice one and like I said before, it'll fit in your pocket.

EDIT: I think you can use CHDK on that to make it a little more versatile as well.

CHDK? Not sure what this stands for, I do however appreciate your input!

Canon Hacker's Development Kit.

It hacks the firmware of the camera to give it some more features, some of which are nice.. like the ability to do RAW, or bulb exposures.

It also voids the warranty I think, so beware - but you'd learn that anyway if you took the steps to use it.

no, it is not substituting, but complementing firmware (stays on SD only), without voiding warranty. However at first I would not use it: what it adds is not for first time photographers (though in future might be useful).
I have it on a SX110 and gives some nice extras... :D
