Canon t3i or Nikon d3200?

Looking to purchase my first DSLR. I been looking at both of these models. Today I found the d3200 with the 18-55 and 75-200 lens in a bundle for 580.00. The only t3i I can find in my budget range of 650.00 only comes with the 18-55 lens. Is the Nikon the best deal, which camera is best for the money? Thanks

I'll start by saying that I am a Canon girl. But between the 2, I'd probably go Nikon.

Is this bundle I'm talking about the same the one you linked? The one on Amazon shows the 50-200mm as a non VR lens, but on best buy it doesn't mention that fact. Thanks.

The Nikon is the better camera, according to what I just looked at on DXoMark, and it's by a pretty good margin too. The sensor in the T3i dates to 2009; the sensor in the D3200 is much newer, and flat-out BETTER.

As to the 55-200VR or non-VR lenses...both are low-cost lenses often bundled. Ignore the lenses...NONE of the 55-200 lenses are "all that". This is like worrying which vacation deal is the best based on the bath towels at two identically-priced hotels. One is on the Big Island, the other is in Pasadena. The big picture is Nikon D3200. It's the Hawaii hotel. The T3i is Pasadena.

The "first" time I bought my D5200 I purchased something similar to what you are looking at. Extra battery, filters, storage cards, 3rd party warranty, etc. When it showed up, after further researching, I found that all the extra crap was just that, crap. Not to mention the gray market body and lens, something I had no idea existed at the time of purchase. Luckily I was able to send it all back for a full refund. My point being, buy from a reputable seller (Adorama, B&H) or even Best Buy, which is where I ended up buying. Nikon also sells refurb'd cameras that can save you some dough and seem to come highly recommended. Good luck.
