Lovely shot. I also like the subtle lightning in the background. The last time I was at the Gran Canyon was in 2010 in August. It was cold (45 degrees F) and it was raining. Not a good day for photos.

I hate it when that happens! I recently drove four hours to get a specific shot of the Super Moon setting in the early morning hours with a specific mountain in the background. After all that effort, and driving out to the planned shot location, I found that the horizon was cloud-covered and the moon was completely obscured. The chase continues...
