What's new

CC on flower in sunset.

I like this bro. You also could've tried getting closer or zooming in from farther away(using a telephoto/zoom lens), those are just some ideas for next time. I'd say the exposure is fine. This is a pretty good shot. I do spot a little reflection of the sunlight hitting your lens but that's barely noticeable. If you did notice that i'd say it's a good aspect hence it points towards your subject. But that light bouncing around in your lens doesn't always make an image nice :p from what i've learned. May look good in the movies though, right? lol

Hmm it looks like the focus on the flower is a little soft. Also might consider this image as a subject for HDR to bring more light into the image. Its pretty dark.Composition-wise Rule of thirds could help here.

Some fill flash would have saved this shot. It's way too underexposed, by about a full stop or more. The sunset is exposed pretty good, but the flower is way too dark. Fill flash used properly would have properly exposed the flower and the sunset. With the subject that close even the pop up flash would have worked just fine.

Thanks a lot man! Haha indeed it does. I added you back on Flickr. Love your photos!

Like Scorpion mentioned.. fill flash! Subject (flower) is too dark, and underexposed. Not to mention centered.... but hey, at least you didn't center the horizon! :)

It says your photos are okay to edit, so I hope you don't mind...

Take this with a grain of salt because I'm VERY new at this, but this is how I pictured it...

How is it that that image looks softer here than it does on my photobucket?? Bizarre. Oh, well.

Looks great, thanks!

A fill would probably have spilled over onto the rocks unless it was carefully aimed. I'm not sure what that would have done to it. Maybe better, maybe nothing. I'm undecided. It would certainly have been worth a try.

Edit ...

Figured I'd try it in NX2 to see what it did. Maybe not quite as wide as this but something along these lines:

nah... a snoot or even a flag would cure that... just have to direct the light.... just the tiniest touch of light would be all it needed...

Sammie.. nice edit! Getting out the center makes huge difference, and the added contrast on the subject is much better!

the composition appears to be un natural. flowring plant growing in a rocky area!

what if you had composed so the flower was against the sky? maybe?
