Change the date (year) in your camera!

Good pointer. I have a question though. Does it matter if it doesn't put the date on the photo anyway and everything after like 1933 or something is automatically copyrighted? how does that actually work as pertaining to your date.

Prior to the Copyright Law of 1976 both federal and state copyright laws had to be considered.

Before the 1976 version of copyright law a photo had to be published and had to have a copyright statement on the photo to activate federal copyright protection.

When the rights to a work of intellectual property have expired, been forfeited, or are inapplicable the work is then in the 'public domain'.

The Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998 (Sonny Bono Act) extended the 1978 copyright law copyright term from the life of the author plus 50 years, to life of the author plus 70 years.

the data can be stripped so easily it almost seems a waste. I suppose putting in our exif data could make us feel better on some odd level. I would be more interested in being able to time and date my family photos but the only cameras I have that will do that are the point and shoots. I am still in shock the Nikons don't time and date for a option (least the ones I have)

Not at all I appreciate the heads up and I am changing mine. Not to sound negative, do question the strippin of exif data and point of it sometimes. Still changing the dates though if for no other reason the wrong date discovered later would really bug me.

@480sparky Thanks for the heads-up. Gave me one more reason to be happy I bought a Nikon D810 - the date automatically updates. Maybe they will make one someday that automatically updates DST.
