Is it easy to change the bulb in a Nikon SB 900 flash?

I haven't blown it yet but I am about turning off the overheating protection in my Nikon SB 900 flash. It keeps shutting down in the middle of wedding ceremonies when there are lots of emotion and tons of opportunities to take pictures...

My plan is the turn off the overheating protection and change the bulb when it melts. I can get the bulb from ebay inexpensively...

What do you think?

I'm going to say (Without ever having used a '900) that sounds like a BAD plan. Defeating a built-in protection system, regardless of how annoying it is, is invariably a bad idea, and likely to lead to failure of more than just the flash-tube. Changing the flash-tube in a speedlight ranges from a simple pain in the butt, to downright impossible. Flog the '900 and pick up a used SB-800!

Buy another speedlight to use as a backup?

+1, switch them once a while,

last wedding i did, one of my sb-600s glass turned yellow from overheating, he never shutted down.
