Not overly exciting price but not bad either. The only drawback is refrubished meaning 90 day warranty. Tho the ML-3 remote,32gb SD card,tripod,etc.. makes up for some of that.

It does include a 1 year warranty.

So Mr_Mac did you come to any conclusion? I am leaning strongly towards the D7000 just need to decide where and what accessories to go with it now.

The "5-lens kit" appears to include two non-lens lenses: looks like a .47x or whatever wide-angle screw-in adapter lens, and some kind of +diopter close-up filter...the "5-lens" kit looks like a kit zoom, a 55-200, and a 50mm 1.8 AF-D NIkkor lens...so...I dunno...seems "reasonable" I guess...

Thom Higan keeps saying that on December 15 and after, there will be some kind of a "deal" from Nikon...I expect thiat means some kind of a worthwhile incentive...my guess??? $150 off of every d-slr body priced at $899 and higher...Holiday sales incentives are a MAJOR 'thing' with Nikon USA...I would wait just a few more days before pulling the trigger on any new Nikon stuff!!!!

Nikon only provides 90 days of that. The remainder of the 1 year warranty period is provided by the seller.

You could easily live off the kit for ever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

But....You will eventually want to upgrade.

The one thing this kit lacks is a wide lens, I would throw that in as you learn more.

Was going to pull the trigger on the D7000 but circumstances beyond our control have killed that idea! I do have about $350 in gift cards from Sears I was going to use for this purchase and that is what my budget just got dropped to so perhaps I'll end up with the D3100 they have through Cameta Camera for $380. Since I'm still pretty much a noob when it comes to digital SLRs then maybe this will be a good entry level camera for me. Later on things may change for the better and I can upgrade then.
