Actually shot this a couple years ago, but haven't done much since. Trying to get back into it. One mistake I know I made was not thinking about depth of field (I think I was just excited about being at the top of ESB). So I tried to fix that in PS by blurring the background. Other than that, what else did I do wrong/could have done better?

I would really have to pull it back to fit the entire spire and I was trying to show the detail of the top of the building. Do you think an even tighter crop would work better in that case?

Hmm...I'm not sure. I'd hate to lose any of the building detail, but I want to look up, beyond the frame to see the top.

I assumed the very same thing when I looked at it... and yeah, a tighter crop might work because it would look a little less like you clipped the top by accident (which is SORTOF what it looks like now)

That said, love the detail, so you nailed that.

I noticed the fringing around the edge and the "bokeh" (hate that word) looked a little weird to me before you told me that you blurred it, so I'm afraid it was noticable for me. However, I doubt most will catch it... I think most will have the "neat, it looks like a model!" reaction, which I saw as well.

I haven't done a photoshop challenge for someone in years... if you like, put the original up somewhere where I can grab it and I can take a shot at faking the DOF effect myself. No guarantees, but I can give it a whirl. Others here may be willing to as well.

Here is the original if anyone wants to take a crack at it. I remember trying several different crops, but liking the one above best. Definitely interested in other opinions/ideas however.

Mm not sure if I like. You should be carefull with crop. And mmm I'm not really in the mood with all that out of focus. If you try to reduce a bit in my opinion will work better.
