Cleaning?

sensors should be cleaned only when you need to clean them - and you only need to clean them when you start getting dustspots in your shots.
Its a delicate operation and whilst possible its not something that you want to overdo - so clean as needed.

Well, I just bought my camera and I had picked it out prior to purchasing it. I sent my husband to the store to purchase it...he came back, I unpacked it and the screen was scratched up significantly. I was pissed. When I ask him how this could be, he proceeded to tell me that the guy at the camera store took the display (which is BEHIND the counter) and packed it in the box. So obviously since the camera is located back there, either the store employees are having a little too much fun with the displays and not taking very good care of them...or they gave it to a customer to play around with and obviously wasn't watching them closely because someone wasn't careful with it.

I don't want my LCD to get scratches. I have a danger prone teenager and a baby...so you just never know.

That's all you. I cant stand screen protectors, they take away from the visuals of the image it portrays. Over time they get that bubbly texture... yeah they are just a mess.

I do see how you are worried about your kids knocking it or something though.

Well, if I'd just bought the camera and any part of it looked like it had suffered abuse either by staff or customers I'd be marching back and having a sealed box replacement, where'd you buy this, cash converters. H

It is on page 3 now in this beginner's section and is titled "Any advice on Cleaning my Camera?" You might have already read it...if so disregard!

Yea, I think they would bother me too and take away from the visuals, but I'd rather be protected after seeing what happened to the camera I bought that was a demo. Just kinda makes me wonder how easy they scratch. I guess it won't hurt to try them. If not, I'll pitch it.

Oh trust me...I did. They were closed by the time my husband got home with the camera. I called the manager first thing in the morning. I was PISSED. Told him I paid full price for a brand new camera, I expect to get a brand new camera with no scratches OR shutter time on it. Otherwise he was going to sell me the one I had at a very reduced very used cost. He opted to get me a new one. Had it shipped from another state and it took a week to get here. I got a free battery out of the deal as well and $10 off a memory card.

Thanks, I actually did come across it, but didn't actually read the entire post because I was actually "cleaning" my lens yet. I just want to be prepared with everything necessary for when that needs to happen.

So, now I know the items I need and a good blower. I will be picking one of those up asap.

my screen protector came....it's not one of those flimsy sheets that stick on the LCD...it's actually a hard plastic that attaches to the lcd screen through notches at the top and bottom...the plastic is clear and hard and doesn't mess with viewing stuff on the LCD.

plus it's only $12....as you said if you don't like it throw it away.

I've done a little bit of researching and found that they also make them in glass as well. I'm wondering if the glass one's wouldn't have more clarity.

Anyone have a glass protector?
