Colorado Springs, Anyone?

Hello friends!

I'm super new at photography (and therefore the forum), but I'm stoked about learning and getting some new gear.

I just moved here in June with my new wife and we love it here. She paints, and I am a high school teacher. I'm apparently taking up a bunch of new hobbies now that I live in an amazing place. I'm learning to kayak and now that I just took my first pics (on my wifes AE1) - I'm obsessed with photography and need to learn.

Anybody in the Springs who wouldn't mind spending a little time with a noob - I'd love to go out and watch to see what you do.

Lars, I teach in Falcon School District - so we're super close. Any good local camera shops I should check out (or avoid?)

The two camera shops I went to in this area are Shewmakers (downtown) and Wolf Camera (Academy & Constitution). To save some money, I ordered everything online though.

Falcon School District? That is very close indeed. We could meet up and take some photos in the Colorado Springs area sometime.

That sounds awesome. Im trying to save $$ for an XTi like you have, but right now I just still have my Ae1. I'm totally new so it would be neat to watch someone with more experience shoot.

Welcome! I once spent a night under a bridge in Colorado Springs... it was near an intersection by a Waffle house... or something like that... Only because the bus station kicked us out and my friend didnt want to sleep in the back of pickup trucks at a car dealership.... beautiful area!
