Comments and critiques welcome

Well we took the plunge and got us a D5100. Right now we're in WAY over our heads, but in time and with a few classes I'm sure thing will get better. Feel free to toss out some pointers.

O.K.

#1 Taking a picture of the building on the shade side is iffy at best. Go there at a different time of day, and maybe the light will be better.
#2 Probably the most potential in this group, but try for some different camera positions/angles. Try to identify a place where the composition is compelling.
#3 Your flash is reflected on the opposite wall, and it looks like your white balance is off. On-camera flash might work in some cases, but the biggest issue is the composition.
#4 Has possibilities, but the composition just isn't quite there. Try just one row of lights, or try at a different time of day, or try some detail shots, or something.
#5 Now you're starting to see outside the box, but again, the composition isn't much.

Yes the flash.....infernal thing. There were quite a few people in this small room, so taking another shot waould have been tricky. As far as the while balance goes.....The subway tile was a cream/off while color. I'll have to figure out how to change the white balance.
