How about some more computer talk? I'm in the middle of a rebuild and I'm super excited to get the stuff I just ordered.

Setup is currently (try not to gag!):
CPU: Intel core 2 duo
Mobo: Nvidia 780i SLI
RAM: 4gb ddr2
SSD: 128gb
HDD: 1tb 7200rpm
PSU: 550w
GPU: 2x Nvidia GTX 280's
Case: old aluminum crap

Mobo: Asus z97-Pro
RAM: 16gb DDR3 ripjaws @ CAS-9
SSD: 240gb

PSU: 750w thermaltake
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 (just one for now)
Case: Thermaltake Armor series

Used for gaming and photo editing/etc.

At present I'm running:

Windows 8.1 (best OS I've ever used from a compatibility, speed and stability point of view - annoying interface choices though)

1 Samsung 250GB internal HD Solid State
2 Sea Drive 2TB internal HD (1 for photos and 1 for games - photo one backed up onto a 1TB external - need to upgrade that in time)
16GB DDR3 RAM
Asus GeForce GTX660 2GB
Intel Core i5 4670K Quad Core 3.40GHz
Icybox IB-867 (mostly there for the card reader slots, saves me having an external card reader ,also generally helpful to have more than two USB connectors on the front - even though I had to give up my front USB3 connectors for it).

Don't currently have an internal DVD drive, old one broke on my last machine and I got round to using an external which I kept on using to help keep the computer upgrade costs down (no problems with it at all - though can a bit loud sometimes).



I went with a fullsized tower so that building would be easier, asides I had the space. Plus I've got a lot more room inside to add more HDs and bigger graphics cards if I need to in the future.

The last computer I bought was a $266 refurbished Dell Optiplex 760 with a Core Duo 2.8GHz processor, a 500 GB hard drive, 8 GB of DDR2 RAM, and a increased output power supply.

64gb ram are you for real LOL. Does it make a noticeable difference?

Anyone running liquid cooling? I stepped away from it a couple years back but I'm going the fan/liquid route now with a liquid CPU cooler and fans for the rest. Curious to see how it runs.

I'm not running anything serious but the fans on my current computer are very quiet - a bigger case and a couple of quiet fans works well. I think that if you want to get into overclocking or some serious power you might well want to look at liquid cooling for a quieter setup.

Yeah this motherboard and CPU are built for OCing so I might "dabble". We'll see how it runs what I need it to prior though, I'm hoping it won't be necessary.

Eh abit, but I find that pressing alt and F4 at the same time still results in a faster running Facebook. I've heard some try pressing ctrl alt del all at the same time a couple of times too; but it seems that new windows OS's don't support that fully any more
