Contrast: one for C&C

Contrast seems fine... but I might have given it more contrast. :)

mwcfarms is likely rolling her eyes now.

I'm contrast whore.

Contrast choice is a style decision, and it will vary from image to image. Don't let people tell you what your style is. Decide for yourself. That said, I imagine a ton of contrast on a baby might be a little odd for the average viewer. Dunno.

Lol when I was judging contrast I immediately thought of you Manaheim and our debates over contrast and sharpening. I did indeed give a partial eye roll but I did wonder as well since I know how you love to push the contrast.

heheh... in truth the way I do it is I push it until I go "oh god, no, too much" and then I back it off slightly.

Think of contrast the way you think of tires... if the tires aren't screeching a little, then you're not at the absolute edge of their traction and therefore not getting as much as you can out of them. Push it till it screeches. :)

wix.com is hardly a "website".
and having a website hardly makes you a "pro" .

Hmmmm, when I go to Connecticut Photographer, Connecticut Photography - Sabrina Cameron Photography - Specializing in Newborn, Children, Family, Pregnancy, Maternity, Portrait, and Events (wix.com) I get content and images, without any errors. Does that not constitute a website?

Stop trying to troll.

Contrast is fine to my eyes.

I am drawn to the bucket more than the baby because it is such a vivid color.
I whole heartedly disagree with those disliking the handle placement. It is opposite the baby's head, and is a nice weight and detail to oppose it.
I almost want to see a cute sponge at the lower left/center base of the bucket. It would create a triangle of interest too lead the eye around, and repeat suggested triangles from the background.

There, Sabrina. No snark. Put that in your bubble pipe and smoke it!
Ooops. I did it again, didn't I?

I find the contrast to be just fine. I do however with the light was a wee be more directional (coming from a greater angle to the camera) so to cause a bit more shaping and texture.

Good stuff!

Let me rephrase.
it's not a legitmate, hosted, photography website.
A "pro" photographer isn't going to have a free wix.com domain.
They'll have their own personally designed site, with their own web address.

I get errors, and no content from the portfolio. *shrugs*

I know, right? Wix just screams amateur!!!

If it worked, it looks nice enough, though.

So Facebook, Flickr, Imageshack, etc, etc is a viable option then? Yet lesser known host sites aren't? I'm confused. How about those of us that have a "Pro" account somewhere but consider ourselves an amateur. How does that work?

Professional photographer website: Omaha Photography, Omaha Photographer, Arnold Clark Photography Omaha

wix.com/imaphotographer

See the difference?
Professionals have actual legitimate websites, used for promotion/business.
Facebook, Flickr, Photobucket, are image hosting websites, yes.
But not "Photography websites".

A professional photographer isn't going to use a wix.com account.

Not sure what you aren't understanding, or why you're trying to argue with me.
But anyways.

OO good lord .. lol I have my own web site .. and I consider my self FAR from a pro ... lets get back to the topic shall we?

I LOVE the picture .. I don't think there is to much contrast at all .. looks great .. and to be honest .. I like the handle where its at. I think it helps break it up a little .. but again this is my untrained eye.

Good lord... Her signature link is just old Kevin... click her site and it redirects to her own domain... a legitimate, professional, business web site.

A thread devolving into a "what constitutes a pro" debate. That's so unexpected. Since I already know what everyone is going to say I'll save us all a heap of time and inform you that you are all wrong, I am right and that's all there is to it.

Now, moving on...

I like the pic but can't decide if I like the new shiny bucket or if a more weathered looking bucket (same color but faded like the wall paper) would work better.

I didn't read the rest of the comments, I'm posting this before this thread goes to 7 pages...

I like it, I like to bump the contrast in my pictures quite a bit though. But yeah, looks good to me!

Right well then I retract my statement.

Not the wix part though.
You don't see professional photographers going about their business on wix.
