In my days research I came by this little tid bit. Is it me, or is the speed at which technology is advancing increasing exponentially? http://www.afrl.af.mil/index.cfm?objectid=B03B56E7-BDBE-23C7-E2CD558C040CAE1C
Interesting. I wonder what benefit it gives over solar panels. The test output was 32 watts, and they claim it should get over 100. A $400 22"x48" solar panel can produce 85 watts. They both use light, except a solar panel uses the photons to knock loose electrons to create a charge. Here they are using light generated heat and converting that somehow. At nearly 2000K, I wouldn't want to go anywhere near that thing.
