I woke up before sunrise so I could get out and shoot. Spend a solid 12 hours wandering around in the world checking my favorite spots. It's nice to see a few different birds returning.. Comments welcome...

Thanks! I'm surprised how much I like the D600. I'm sure if the AF is fixed on my D7100 I will like that better. Might be a hard decision what to do especially if the D9300 really is going to hit the market.

As ever, the in flights of Ospreys are amazing, but I really like the Merganser. Red Breasted I think?
Thanks!...Yup, he's a Red Breast with a broken bill. I had to work pretty hard to get that shot. I was running through a marsh every time he dove and then hitting the decks when I thought he would pop back up. All I could think of was the scene from the Holy grail when they are running across the field forever then suddenly pop up at the castle :)

Right now I have a D7100, D600 and D800 sitting here. I'm starting to think I should be taking the D600 out with me !!!!!

It depends on which lens you attach. I find the D600 very forgiving because the pixel density is much lower than the D7100. Even 100% crops look pretty good to me, here is an Osprey from 100 feet away, 100% crop. download..DSC_3394-2
I'm not sure in real life shooting how much high ISO performance beats the D7100. I've seen noise that annoyed me at 1600 on the D600 depending on the conditions and crop. The noise on the D7100 is so much finer grained it doesn't bother me as much and I hate noise...
