Critique: Experienced potographers, I need feedback!

I would say they look very professional....the colours are awesome. The photos are very sharp. What camera did u use? Did you shot in RAW or Jpeg? Your model is very georgous.

Canon Rebel xti with Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS shot in jpeg. I need to start shooting in raw now that I have cs3 with the raw plug-in. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

In a series of shots such as this it would be best to keep the colors uniform, I'm also confused as to what the "message" is, pretty girl/clock/location, stock shot, fashion, waiting for rush hour?????????? they convey little to me, sorry. H

They could be made into a series but I didn't really do that yet. Just altering each individual one. I see where you are coming from though. I know the message is vauge and that's one thing I'll work on next time I do a themed/conceptual shoot.

First of all, this girl is a knockout and the posing is pretty good. I haven't looked at the exif but I'm assuming you're using a 50mm 1.whatever and shooting close to wide open. I just think some are a little dark and the color is a little funky. And is there a significance to the time (same in every picture)? Maybe it's time to start experimenting with reflectors and fill flash, but I think you're on the right track.

Thank you! I was using a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L lens. You are not the first one who has brought up refectors. Maybe it's time to start looking into that.

Were these all shot with natural light? With the processing, you're losing detail in the hair and part of the face where her hair is hanging over her eye. A flash, or even a small reflector focusing the light would have helped out with that. I'm not opposed to the look, but say in image where she's sitting on the park bench with her face against the clock, you're losing one whole side of her face.

If you ever browse the internet for large publications with models, you'll see that they're not always full body shots or the models aren't always looking at the cameras.

Could be an advertisement for tobacco or alcohol. Maybe firearms or explosives.

It's different though. If you shoot stuff that's not different, then you get boring.

A brillo pad could probably fix that.

It doesn't look like any skin smoothing was done to the photos. You can still see a bit of "blotchyness" to the skin but light and distance can mask that. I'd hate to see what kind of models you're shooting.

LOL I'll let her know you said that and I'm sure she'll take it as compliment as there was no edit to the skin. She has great skin naturally. The only things I edited were the color balance and levels and of course added the border and sig.

I am just a beginner. But personally, I prefer seeing both of her eyes when she is facing the camera. If I see half of the face, that's okay. However, her hair seems to be too close to her left eye in few of the photos.

Again, this is just my opinion.

Very good idea. I will try next time to tame my hair! lol (I'm the model, btw)

Here are a few little comments I thought of though.
Be careful when posing that you don't make them look like they've lost a leg - like in the first photo.

The first pic is great - but it's definitely more about the background than the girl - which is cool if that's what you're going for. It could be more about her if she was positioned a little lower in the fram - remember your rule of thirds - she's very close to half way there.

I agree with the comments about the colour. If you're showing them in a series keep the cool/warm factor the same - it's too confusing otherwise.

The last shot is gorgeous and I love the expression.

This is a personal taste issue, but I don't like the photoshop blur look you have going on here. I'd try and shoot it with more background blur, rather than PS it in which is what I think you've done in some of these.

Great location, great prop - even though the message may be lost on us without context.
Overall great job.

There was no PS blur he did. That was from the telephoto lens his dad rented. You give good criticism. I like that you give advice instead of just saying he did something wrong.

One thing i noticed in the FOURTH shot was that she was squinting, which isnt very attractive to me because i cant see her eyes. I personally would try to avoid making the model look into the sun too much.

Watch your lines... horizons and other level areas aren't always straight. A lot of centerting going on as someone else mentioned... not just up/down, either.

Personally, I find the "off coloring" distracting. I assume 4 is closest to "real" coloring, but even that one looks tweaked a bit.
