D500 Baseball

I went to get some baseball shots with the D500 These are through the fence with nikon 70-200mm 2.8. I really need to get some time in to make some adjustments.

Those are real nice. I would be happy with those considering where the sun is located. I would bump up the shadows a little in post just to see if it adds any more drama. It has a real nice 3D quality as the ball and pitcher are separated well in clarity. Real nice dynamic range. Excellent composition in 3 & 4.

I still need to work on a few a the settings in the camera and in post work

I love to see what I call "chain link bokeh balls", as seen most clearly on the catcher's headgear in the last two shots. it's a weird signature seen wherever chain link fences are around!

So--what is the early verdict on the D500 for sports use--or have you had enough time and opportunity to have arrived at one?

Addendum, 10:21 PM===Ya'll do see the chain link's signature in the bokeh balls--right?

So far I only shot 2 innings of baseball so its to early to tell but I would Definitely lean towards positive ,Quick focus and even though I only shot in 4 frame burst the 10fps is real nice

I just sold my 300mm f/2.8 AF-S II to a guy on the 28th, and the lens is not focusing right, at ALL, on the new D500 he just got. Spent 45 minutes with him on the phone tonight, going over multiple potential issues, perhaps some odd new firmware AF-S issues, etc,.etc..

Wondering what exact lenses you've had success with on the D500?

I just sold my 300mm f/2.8 AF-S II to a guy on the 28th, and the lens is not focusing right, at ALL, on the new D500 he just got. Spent 45 minutes with him on the phone tonight, going over multiple potential issues, perhaps some odd new firmware AF-S issues, etc,.etc..

Thanks for the report, I appreciate it. I checked Fred Miranda last night after posting here, and it seems like the 300/2.8 AFS-II, which is older than the 200-400VR and likely the 500/4, is having some issues on D810 and D750 cameras, either with, or without the TC17E-II, as in it will focus for five minutes, or 15 minutes, and then never again, or variations along that line. Puzzling.
