D700 battery

How long does your D700 battery lasts? I mean lifespan, not one-time use.

It's been 1.5 years since I got mine. I went through about 30k shots with it, between another battery which I use less.
When I put it on the charger, the charger blinks for a while then shuts off. When I use it, the battery drains rather quickly. Is this normal?

For a genunine Nikon EN-EL3e? That's not normal (unless you're charging it dairly). I have ones that I purchased with my D300 almost five years ago that still deliver almost-new performance. Have you checked the batterie's "Health" with the display on the rear LCD?
