Dance Pictures

My girlfriend was recently in a dance group and I offered to take some pictures while they filmed. I had to remain in one spot and wasn't allowed to use any lighting :|

Any input appreciated! This was my first time photographing people. Hardware is a D7000 with Nikkor 18-105

Not sure what it is but I really like these for whatever reason. Lol I think maybe they're just very real feeling.

Thank you! That means a lot, I was tying to capture the feel of their dance in the photos.

Shooting dance real-time (i.e.: not in a studio with hundreds of "do-overs") is like shooting sports at night: it's really tough. And you pulled off some lovely results. I'm especially impressed that you got these results without being allowed to move around.

My only suggestions would be a little more post-production work...eliminate some distracting lines or lights given how dark the background is. For instance, with #1, I'd eliminate the lighting room in the upper left hand corner, in #2 I'd remove the bright orbs of the floor lights on the upper left side, and so on.

Thank you! I 100% agree with your comments, and honestly I would have done that but I didn't have PS. I literally (5 mins ago) just subscribed to that Adobe Creative cloud for $10/mo. So I'll probably do some messing around with these.

I really like the last three. Really nicely done.
