I got hell for having dappled sunlight in my one of my promo shoots a few months ago. I understand why its not ideal but sometimes i think it looks pretty... as long as its not over the subjects face, or if its not too harsh/intense in the background. Anyways please CC this shot. Is the dappled sunlight to harsh? I did a recovery in LR.. i just don't know if its good enough. But like i said earlier.. I think dappled sunlight can look pretty

Thanks! Yeah i think as long as its not on the subject its ok. I like the glow of a dappled sunlight personally... it looks like a glitter. i don't know why people hate it

Believe you are calling it wrong, the glitter look is from the light hitting the flower or whatever foilage is causing the reflections. Dappled lighting is as the name implies , basically light in splotches that if on a subject is tough to correct.

Shoot well, Joe

I don't like it. I think the main issue is where that dappled light is placed in the background. Its right next to the focus of the photo which is your subjects face, and it pulls all of the attention to the blotch. It also appears that there is some odd lighting on the babys face closest to the blotch of light. The skin tone on that section looks wierd to me.

Oh I know that about the flowers. But like when the light shines through the trees and hits the ground it can have a glittery effect too which I like... as long as its subtle and not on the subject. But yeah it is hard to correct...

there is a slight bruise on the left side of her forehead.... is that what you are talking about? Or it could be that i used the gold side of my reflector and it was casting specks of light in random places

Where was the reflector behind the babies left ear ? i can't see where a gold reflector would be on the other side, i wouldn't use gold in the shade

It was right in front of her. And you should use gold in the shade to offset the blue colorcast of the shade....

That's why most fashion pro's use silver

I am a fashion pro now? :er:

I don't think silver would warm it up like the gold would do. And doesn't silver only highlight?
