Data recovery software

If I am posting this in the wrong forum I apologize, please move it o the correct one.

My boss at work has either deleted a couple of pictures or has formatted the SD card and has asked me about software to recover the photos from this SD card. I know it's possible, many years ago I had to recover files from a micro-drive that had been formatted and I was able to recover all the photos I was missing and some from previous trips that had also been formatted. At any rate, I was hoping y'all had some recommendations for good (preferably cheap or with a fully functional free trial) that I can pass on to her. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've had very good success with Recuva. It was recommended to me here on this forum years ago when I asked. You can read details of my story in this thread: Simple, free way to recover deleted images | Photography Forum

There may be better ones out there by now. I haven't kept up with the latest on file recovery software, tbh.

Photorec comes packaged with Testdisk.
both are a free download.
I have used Photorec and it worked very well.
