just snapped this off for the heck of it and liked the results so I figured I would share it here. Let me know what you think.

CAUTION SCIENCTIFIC CONTENT BELOW:

The colors that you see on the scorpion is fluorescence from the absorption of incident UV light (short wavelength) promoting electron transitions into excited states and the subsequent readmission of electromagnetic radiation at longer wavelengths as those excited electrons "relax" to their former ground states...and hence that's why it's visible as green light whereas UV is invisible to the human eye

Basically, the green color is energy released from the electrons moving from one state to another?

hehehe from detailed jargon to layman speak in a short concise sentence....

fun to see the varied backgrounds people have here or simply the amount of "random" (read: for interest sake not 'waste of time') reading people do

yeah, that's pretty much it.

let's just say that there is a mental illness known as scorpion sting syndrome that is caused by the constant pain lasting for 10+years. If you live that is...

Scorpions scare me. I once, by mistake, laid my hand on one. When I realized what I done, I nearly had a heart attack.
