Have thought about getting a bigger lens for wildlife shots but have been hesitant. The Nikon 80-400VR does not use an external motor for focusing and is slow.... it's also one of their first VR lenses so I was hesitant to spend the $$ required. Tokina's 80-400 is lacking any type of Vibration compensation.
Sigma's 80-400 looked interesting but now B&H lists it as "discontinued"
Anyone hear something? Any NEW versions announced at the NYC show this weekend?
I'm thinking that the 2x teleconverter with the Nikon 70-200VR may be good enough for now - until a next gen 400/500 range lens comes out
