I'm not trying to steal anyone's style, but learn more about post and techniques in photoshop used to effect colors and such. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

You are doing fine. There has been no misunderstanding, just one member who loves to be contrary and insulting to 'American' photography, American photographers, and those who do not agree with him. Without proper technique or technical values, most photography falls on its face. If you like the look of cool flesh tones and cool, blue-ish shadows and lower mid-tones, then skieur is right--you need to look at some of the filter simulation effects of film pre-set "looks" that sort of mimic some of the film looks.
