Photos NOT OK to edit
you thought photos like this were acceptable..even if it were in focus?

Or was this just me? I was looking through some of my older photos, and I came across that wondering "why did I keep that thing?" Ive come to the conclusion that it must have been because of the nice, pretty blue lines around the geese. That must have been it.

Yep I recall those days!

400D - Sigma 70-300mm

sad thing is its still the best shot of a heron I've got thus far :( I swear the darn things hide from me now! ;)

I have one almost exactly like that from the same equipment combo (D90, 70-300G)...only more abysmal.

I can't wait to get back at my local heron. There's one that frequents a specific log in the local park faithfully ever fall. I have even less reach now, however with only my 80-200, but hopefully the results will be much better

Its almost sad as I rummage through these photos, though. I may post more to show just how miserable my eye was. lol

Well what do you know! The combo produced something moderately technically sound that day!

...moderately. :er:

Haha I don't know if my "eye" has gotten any better at composition - but at least I've now trained it (mostly ;)) in the technical side :)

And now I want to see this scary horrible shot of the heron! :)

Edit : crop of the far left tailfeathers and a little boost to contrast maybe and its not that bad a shot! Focus is very nicely placed and overall exposure is good (barring the blue fringing still being present on the birds whites)

As soon as I find it somewhere in my 6000 photos I have to go through, Ill be sure to post it. (:

Litterally, though. I'm going through all my cards tonight and tomorrow..so Im bound to find it.

Anywho, here are some that actually didnt prove to be so abysmal. Bare in mind, however, that there were many, many between these shots that were indeed abysmal.

SOOC, D90, 70-300G. Last two are at 300mm, F/8 I believe.

With a slight curves adjustment and a considerable amount of sharpening, this one was almost saved...too bad about that foot. :er:

But that second one is clearly the best so far! I mean its a perfect rendition of "insert long arty word". Seriously its clearly a case of showing your early great potential!

That was one of my first images!
I actually still kinda like it, It is a "tad" too warm but that is about all i think!
I like the leaves on the right and how they are in focus too!

Nope, but my mother would not let me get away with that sort of shooting, even at the age of 11.

Great laugh...
I know how you feel, sometimes I feel the same way.

I have deleted many of my earlier shots, just to make room on my early photo disks.

lol this is funny. I went back through all my photos and cleaned house. I dropped like 5 gig off my hard drive. I kept a lot thinking I would go back and "fix" them untill i realized they are unfixable lol.
This was in my first week. I almost framed it i was so proud lolol.
