Most of the time I use Maruchan brand Creamy Chicken ramen noodle soup because it has the least Sodium (620 mg) of Maruchan's boil for 3 minutes noodle soups.
I add:
A chopped stalk of celery.
A small diced potato (red or russet)
3 or 4 chopped green onions
1 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp Tapatio hot sauce
1 tbsp cooked chorizo
1 tsp chopped garlic

When I use Maruchan's Oriental flavor ramen noodle soup I add:
5 or 6 chopped green onions
1 tbsp grated ginger root
1 tsp sweet chili sauce
1 tsp chopped garlic
3 drops of sesame seed oil

oh, absolutely! but i usually just throw away the seasoning packet (well, out it in a drawer never to be seen again ... gotta have dozens) and use my own seasoning.

Doesn't that defeat the whole point of them????? Boil water in kettle, pour water & contents of "flavour packets" into bowl, eat/slurp. Done.

Some of the Chinese-store-sold brands have delicious hot, spicy oil in small packets, along with the seasoning; on the chicken flavored ramen, this hot, spicy oil is simply delicious. As far as preparing the noodles on the stove, I really like to get rid of the starchy water, so after boilng the noodles for 2:30, I dump the boil water, and rinse with cold water until the rinse water comes out clear, add a bit of water, then add the seasoning packets, and add a bit of butter, then re-heat the noodles to the desired degree over medium-high heat. I almost ALWAYS make two bags of noodles, and use a 3-quart sauce pan to cook in.

Last year my young son bought me a microwave ramen cooing bowl...works superbly, cooks one bag of ramen perfectly in about 3:30 in my microwave.

As for added ingredients, normally that would be butter, pepper, and an egg. But I also like carrot coins, sliced celery, and at times bok choy spears.

I also really like to boil, rinse, and then FRY the noodles in a cast iron skillet, with added vegetables like bok choy spears, thin-sliced onions, celery, carrots, and a bit of diced garlic. Keep in mind that there is reallllly cheap ramen, and realllllly GOOD ramen (available at Chinese markets). Not all ramen tastes like the 19 cent a bag crap.

Fancy? I just dump the seasoning packet interest the water and boil it with the noodles. Way too salty the other way.

Howdy......
I boil Top Romin noodles (3 minutes) and then drain all the water.
Put the noodles in a bowl or on a plate and add spegetti sause. I throw away the flavoring
that comes with it.
Works for me....

Vern...
