Is burned out sometime acceptable

In a shot like that it's certainly unnecessary.
If on the other hand it's a landscape shot including the sun, then keeping the sun from burning out would turn everything else to black.
There are times when small areas burnt out is unavoidable.

Thanks. Am slowly learning thanks to kind people here. Been at photography for about 6 months and along with PS and LR it's a steep learning curve.
