Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
After I posted my first ever shots on here, I some great advice on DoF, so I went out the next day and tried to work on some of it...
Here are the shots.. My one question for anyone is how can I control amount that a background is out of focus? (if that makes sense)

Thanks in advance for you thoughts

I typically use focal length if I use a zoom lens. If I use a prime lens, the it's the distance between the subject and the background in relation to the subject and the camera. Sorry, I don't know the technical terms. :( You can also use lens aperture.

Yup, higher F number (lens aperture) will bring more of the background in focus and also the closer the background is to the subject the more it will be in focus...

Three things effect your depth of field:
  • Lens aperture
  • Distance from you to subject
  • Distance from subject to background
The closer you are to your subject, the shallower DOF.
The further away your subject is from the background, the more it will be blurred.
The bigger lens opening, the shallower the DOF.

Thanks for the info everybody!!! I'm going to try it out my next time out.
