Dof - Bokeh excercise

What macro did you buy?

Bought a Pentax DA 35mm macro limited. I've been reading the reviews on it, and I needed a wider angle prime. Seemed to fill the bill. I've also been following @kalgra with his learning focus stacking, so I have a 4 way cross slide ready and waiting.

my technique to help avoid misses (not foolproof, but helps) is to exhale slowly while clicking the shutter.

Not silly at all. I was taught years ago when firing a rifle that breathing causes movement of the chest and a corresponding movement in the rifle and its sights. To minimize this movement and the effect it has on your aim, learn to control your breathing. Exhale fully and extend your natural respiratory pause for a few seconds during the final aiming and firing process.

I use a shot gun, no need to breath, just point and pull.

Have a few of those, as well as several other options in the locker. The same holds for the AR-15 with a 30 round clip. It gives you a "lot" of chances, only further away! LOL

Since bokeh is not adjustable and DoF is, I'm not sure I get why bokeh is in the title.
DoF and bokeh are 2 entirely different lens properties.

Dragging the shutter, or setting your shutter speed to under expose the background when using flash to properly expose your subject, is a very handy technique for people portraits and other kinds of photographs too. The subject to lighting ratio created by dragging the shutter is one way to make the subject 'pop' or be well separated from the background.
Using that and another subject separation technique, like a shallow DoF, just adds to the 'pop'.

Excellent link. Thank you.

As the samples go on, something changes. This is where it comes from. Use that setting carefully and not too often as it just brings up past accounts. I happen to like that first one.
