Dog Portrait

As you may know I am terrible at Photography, but practice makes you better. Except when the batteries die :x.

Which do you prefer and what are your insights on this.

All critique is welcomed.

 

I like the original color better but I think the picture is off-kilter and needs a better crop.
The dog looks on a slant and the content of the flanks doesn't add to the composition.
I would have framed it moire like this.

 

As I have come to realize, The Traveler knows...he just knows.
