I am thinking of purchasing a new tamron 17-50 lens the import is 100.00 cheaper. Anyone done this? Should I avoid it? I assume there would be no warranty.

I haven't; to me it's worth spending the extra money for the peace of mind afforded by full warranty coverage. For consumer-level lenses, I would say it would depend greatly on the price of the lens. Saving $100 on a $300 lens is worth it. Saving $100 on a $1500 - 3000 lens? Not so much.

I found a new import for 300.00 half of b and h price. Through a dealer on amazon who has excellent reviews. I may take a shot at it as it would take at least another 8 months before I could splurge on the USA version.

As I understand it, with grey market warranty repairs, you have to return the product to the retailer. The retailer then sends it out for warranty repair.

For $100 off of a Tammy 17-50 BUY THE GREY MARKET LENS!!! Fo' sho!

I found a different place that it is 300.00 less.

Often, what sounds to good to be true, is.

Oh, and thanks for letting everyone else know where it's $300 less.

No problem. If someone wants to buy one and test it out by all means. It says it's a new import and it is a camera shop. Their price is 349 vs bh at 649

I would freely have given the information it is from a seller on amazon. I thought from my previous post with amazon in it would have been clear. I just reread the way it was worded and it isn't. So for that I apologize but please don't assume I am greedy and won't share a deal. I am on this forum for help in my hobby and to try and help as much as I can I don't believe in taking and not giving where I can.
