This is a photo I shot recently at some night drags. I was really struggling with the light and was panning to catch this scene. I was using the EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III USM (did not bring the "L" glass).

ive snapped some of drags too,its hard to get what your looking for.and light is deff an issue.nice shot of capturing speed.
