Dragonfly - First attempt

First attempt to photograph a dragonfly.. but it didnt turn up quite well.. i just cant get a clear picture no matter what.. any suggestions ?

what settings were you using? If you were using center spot, that would produce those results. I would use center weight, and if that doesn't do it, you could try to open up your aperature a stop or two if possible. alternativly, you could set it so the whole bug is in focus, regardless of the background and fix it later in PS.
